How can a barista built and edit a special CV?

The coffee sector is evolving rapidly, as despite the financial crisis, or because of it, more and more catering businesses are opening up, focused, of course, on coffee. At the same time, the audience these businesses are targeting is more up-to-date, more demanding, and knows what to ask for the cup they order. It makes sense for demand for up-to-date and talented baristi to be greater than before, and competition much tougher.

How is it possible to make your resume as a candidate barista stand out? With some simple tips, a thoughtful resume will bring you a little closer to the place you are dreaming of.

How should a barista edit his CV?

Emphasize your strengths

As with any job, it is important that the first impression on the prospective employer is as good as possible. If you are graduates of the tourism industry but do not have any professional experience, you can start our CV with our studies, if you have studied in a different field but have a ten year career behind you, there is no reason for our CV to start with a degree in theology! If you do not have much experience, you can emphasize in your work skills, expressing your adaptability and willingness to learn.

Be honest but also descriptive

Never declare that you know things you do not, because sooner or later you will be exposed. But it is good to be descriptive of your skills. Next to each and every position we take on in our workplace, complete, quickly and comprehensively, the tasks you have had, as you state exactly what you are able to offer in your new job. Nothing is given and nothing is understood, from what you know or do not know, unless you describe it yourselves.

Show that we are aware of your subject

Detailed descriptions of your qualifications as well as the jobs we have had in the past are the best way to show that you really know the field. What espresso machines have youhandled? How many drinks did you make in our old post? How many new suggestions did you contribute to the menu? How many members did your team have and what were your responsibilities exactly? Careful and to the point descriptions, with thoughtful use of coffee terminology, show how relevant you are to the subject.

Know your  possible employer before sending the CV

When applying for a job, it is important to know what your potential work environment is, so that you can adjust our resume accordingly. In a neighborhood cafeteria, the dozens of barista seminars may not count as much as we own finances and funds, but in a central café serving special drinks, you are at an advantage as you are more informed about our subject.

Seminars always count!

Every barista who respects his job must be constantly up-to-date and constantly evolving. New recipes, new ways of extracting, new possibilities are a part of every barista's job search. Seminars are an ideal way to not only expand your knowledge and stay competitive, but also to prove to your future employer that we deserve his trust and will not "rust" quickly.

Be careful of the photo

The barista is a job that comes in direct contact with clients, so it is a given that a resume without a photo will hardly convince a prospective employer. Of course, a job search is not a beauty contest, but a good, decent photo showing a person smiling, clean and composed is a must. It is best to avoid snapshots, overly sexy or sophisticated looks and focus on the best, but sincere and everyday, version of yourself.

Don't forget the Cover Letter

Many job candidates do not give proper weight to the letter, which must always be accompanied by a resume. It's not needed to be long-lasting, as long as it is polite, honest and present in the best way why you want this work and what makes you believe we will succeed. Otherwise, if all the steps are correct you will soon be asked to prove what you are saying in an interview.

Of course, your job search and career as a barista does not begin or end with a resume, however good it may be. It is a continuous process of education, knowledge and improvement of oyur qualifications, through which we become better! Good luck!
