Avocado and strong coffee combined in Alpukat Kopi from Indonesia!

A different, creamy iced coffee from Southeast Asia with a delicious taste.

Asian coffee culture is accustomed to curious coffees, which in addition to the mighty Asian coffee, use a variety of ingredients, such as tea, spices or sugar milk. A truly unusual recipe from Indonesia is the Alpukat Kopi.

In Indonesian, Alpukat Kopi simply means "Avocado Coffee" - and this is, in fact, a frozen, creamy coffee that combines the avocado's favorite flavor and texture with the strong and earthy aromas of Indonesian coffee. Although it seems to have sprung from the menu of a US hipster café, it is in fact a recipe that has been around for many years in Southeast Asia, and is slowly spreading around the world.

Alpukat Kopi is extremely simple to manufacture, requiring only a blender and ice, while being extremely versatile as it can be brewed with any coffee available, whether filter or espresso. For those who love avocados or for those looking for a hearty yet satisfying beverage that will perfectly complement their breakfast, Alpukat Kopi is the perfect solution - and for anyone who believes in it, just one sip is enough to change your mind.

What do you need for Alpukat Kopi;

  • ½ ripe avocado
  • 1 cup strong coffee
  • ¼ cup sweetend condensed milk
  • ½ cup cold milk
  • Vanilla Sirop
  • 2 cups ice cubes

How is Alpukat Kopi prepared?

  • In a blender, mix all ingredients except ice
  • Serve in a glass of ice with a wide straw

Tips for a delicious Alpukat Kopi!

  • The avocado must be ripe so that the texture of the coffee is appropriate. An unripe fruit will leave little chunks in the drink, and the taste will not be good, either.
  • Use a Robusta-rich coffee, ideally with Asian beans, such as the coffee they prefer in Indonesia.
  • Traditionally, the drink is made with filter coffee, but you can also prepare it with double espresso
  • There is no reason to add sugar, as sweetness takes care of both sweetend milk and avocado itself.
  • It is a coffee ideal for breakfast, as the avocado is full of energy, and its taste combines very well with other breakfast flavors.
  • Vanilla extract is commonly used, which is not so common in Greece, but you can use vanilla syrup for coffee, with the same result.

Iced coffee is a great opportunity to experiment and get in touch with new flavors and cultures - and Alpukat Kopi, Indonesia's avocado-coffee, is definitely a good suggestion for breaking the routine!
