Black Forest Mocha, coffee and dessert together in one glass

by coffees.gr

As coffee lovers, we love authenticity, but we also love experimentation. What happens if we try to combine frozen coffee with a popular dessert?

Spring is the time when our appetite seeks cold, refreshing coffees - but it is also the time when some of the most delicious fruits, such as cherries, appear. We have become accustomed to the unexpected taste-based coffee-based combinations, but today's recipe may be the most bizarre we've ever seen. Combining coffee, milk, chocolate and cherries, we get a beverage that reminds of something of a particularly sweet sweet: the Black Forest.

Black Forest is a particularly popular dessert consisting of sponge cake, whipped cream, chocolate and cherries - either fresh or preserved in alcohol. Although it is found throughout Europe and America, the roots of Black Forest are located in Germany, as it is a transformation of a German sweet with the same name. Many think his name comes from the Black Forest, but this is half the truth, as the name of the dessert comes from a liqueur produced in the villages of Black Forest, which was used to preserve cherries.

Black Forest Mocha combines Black Forest's favorite flavor with coffee aromas, creating a coffee-dessert, refreshing, palatable and quite pleasing. The bittersweet taste of coffee with the fruity cherry feel and the sweetness of chocolate is a combination that can host and that is certainly not for everyone - however, those who love sweets and love and coffee can try it out. The result is special, original and pleasantly surprising.

What do we need for a Black Forest Mocha?

  • 240 ml of cold coffee
  • ½ cup of milk
  • 15 cherries, washed
  • 3 tablespoons of chocolate syrup
  • 1 cup of ice

How is Black Forest Mocha prepared?

  • Prepare the coffee, and when it is at room temperature, refrigerate it
  • In a blender, hit coffee, milk, cherries, chocolate and ice until the ice crumbled completely. Check the texture and correct with a little ice (if it's too thin) or a little coffee (if it's too thick)
  • Serve in a large glass and serve with whipped cream, chocolate chips or a cherry.

Tips for a delicious Black Forest Mocha

  • The texture of the beverage should be a little less dense than a milkshake or a smoothie. If you want it thinner, put a little more coffee
  • You can use whatever coffee you want, but because of the amount it is preferable to use filter coffee. The result will be delicious with espresso, but 4 espresso is required, which adds to caffeine.
  • Choose a 100% Arabica blend, relatively light in taste and sweet, in order to mix the flavors well and tie the character of the beverage. Lucaffe Mr Exclusive or Organic Bio Puro are very good choices for this drink.
  • You can use sour cherries along with cherries at a ratio of 50/50 or replace some of the cherries with maraschino cherries or cherries preserved in alcohol to give a special twist to taste.
  • Do not add sugar, as natural fruit sugars and chocolate syrup add sweetness to coffee. If you wish, add sugar at the beginning, and always in moderation.
  • The drink is not suitable for children because it contains caffeine!
  • For a more impressive serving, youcan smear the walls of the glass with a little chocolate syrup before adding our beverage.

If you are looking for original and different flavors from your coffee, try Black Forest Mocha: it is refreshing, frozen and quenches the desire for coffee and sweet at the same time, with just one sip! Enjoy!
