Although the preparation of the pearls essentially follows the principles of molecular gastronomy, one does not need to be a… Master Chef to prepare the impressive Boba Coffee at home, since only three ingredients are required and no specialized equipment at all.
The only difficulty lies in the tapioca flour. Tapioca flour is a ground root of the cassava plant, which thrives in Latin America and Southeast Asia and is a key ingredient in many South American and Asian dishes. However, it can be found relatively easily in ethnic grocery stores, and the skill in making pearls will be gained with just a few tests.
