Six weird, common and unusual, effects of coffee on the human body.

We know that coffee is a beneficial beverage for the human body, which helps our health in various ways. We also know that coffee must be consumed with moderation, as excessive intake of caffeine can adversely affect some people, especially those who have a difficult medical history or of pregnant or lactating women, and children are well advised to stay away from it until they grow up.

However, it is interesting to look at how the human body responds to a cup of coffee, and even more so, to know the mechanism that explains some of the most common reactions the human body has to coffee. Why do we get more comfortable at work when we drink coffee, why do we work out more efficiently, and why do many of us run to the toilet after our first morning coffee? Coffee affects the human body in strange, miraculous ways.

Six ways coffee affects human body

Our concentration rises

The stimulant effect of coffee, which is due to caffeine, is well known to everyone. Scientists say that within 30 minutes after drinking a cup of coffee, concentration increases, thoughts become clearer and short-term memory improves. This is because caffeine affects the neurotransmitters, the brain cells responsible for the transmission of thought. This mechanism, that is, the irritants of neurotransmitters, can have opposite effects in the case of overdose of coffee, as there is a possibility of irritability, anxiety, and even insomnia.

Blood pressure slightly rises

After a cup of coffee, your blood pressure will probably rise slightly. Although it sounds weird and undesirable, in fact the pressure increase is so small and for such a short period of time that it goes unnoticed most of the time. However, people with a history of hypertension or pregnant women should consult their doctor before consuming coffee and should definitely set limits on daily caffeine intake.

You will propably want to visit the toilet

Visiting the toilet after breakfast is a very common phenomenon, which is scientifically explained. Coffee activates the digestive system, causing bowel movements that make the visit to the  toilet imperative. For most people, this is a desirable phenomenon, which is usually observed only at the first morning coffee, since in the day the body has eliminated what was to be eliminated, on the other hand the body is used to coffee and the digestive system does not react with it. same way. However, people with sensitive digestive system or irritable bowel syndrome may have problems, such as diarrhea.

Breath can change its smell

Drinking coffee should go hand-in-hand with good oral health, to avoid mouth odor. Coffee affects the smell of the mouth in two ways: on the one hand, the aromatic molecules of the coffee itself affect the smell of the breath, and on the one hand, due to the mild dehydration it causes, the coffee reduces saliva. In this way, the dead cells of the mouth are not removed through the saliva, which creates bad breath. However, if we drink enough water, and take care of our teeth by brushing or chewing on a special chewing gum, we will never face the slightest problem.

Physical Strength goes better

Researchers say that with just one cup of coffee, we can work out up to 30% more efficiently because of the fact that caffeine strengthens muscles and increases endurance. Of course, by increasing the duration or even intensity of our workouts, we end up burning more fat, which makes coffee the perfect drink if we plan to visit the gym.

Vision gets sharper

It's probably the most bizarre impact of coffee on the human body! Caffeine slightly increases adrenaline levels in the body, which has some innocent but interesting side effects, such as dilation of the eyes' pupils. In this way, our vision becomes - transiently - better, with a better understanding of perspective and detail.

As we can see, most of the effects of coffee on our body are desirable and help us to have a good and healthy life, while the unwanted can be controlled with little effort. Coffee, besides being delicious, is also a valuable ally for our body - and we can enjoy it without fear of regret.
