There are times when we need a more filling, more "excessive" coffee, which is a bit reminiscent of dessert. Winter is probably the sweetest paradise, since with the addition of whipped cream and syrup, any coffee can be turned into a small dessert, while there are many recipes (especially during the Christmas season) that will satisfy every lick for sweets with just a few sips.

But what happens in the summer? Most iced coffees are thirsty and refreshing, but they are usually far from being "satisfying" as the refreshing character prevails. This gap is being filled by Thick & Creamy, a homemade ice cream recipe from the United States.

Thick & Creamy includes plenty of whipped cream, chocolate and a touch of coffee liqueur that gives it a special character, while as its name suggests, it is thick and creamy. This is not a "professional" recipe, but a homemade invention, which has started to spread on food blogs and social media, among those looking for an iced, refreshing coffee that can simultaneously replace a dessert with success.

 

What do you need for a Thick & Creamy Iced Coffee?

  • 250 ml whipped cream
  • 120 ml strong coffee
  • 1 ½ teaspoon sugar
  • 30 – 40 gr chocolate chips, melted
  • 2 tablespoons Baileys Irish Cream

How is Thick & Creamy Iced Coffee prepared?

  • Add the chocolate pieces and sugar to the hot coffee, stirring until melted.
  • Allow the mixture to come to room temperature, add the liqueur and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes.
  • Beat the whipped cream very well and incorporate the coffee mixture. Put the mixture in the freezer for 15-20 minutes
  • Serve with a wide straw, a little ice and a few pieces of chocolate

 

Tips for delicius Thick & Creamy Iced Coffee

  • You can use whatever coffee you want, espresso or filter. A blend rich in Robusta will emphasize the character of the coffee in our final drink.
  • Instead of Baileys Irish Cream, you can use any coffee liqueur you want, as long as it is correspondingly dense, in order to achieve the right texture.
  • Enjoy responsibly, without forgetting that coffee contains (even a little) alcohol!
  • Beware of calories! Thick & Creamy is delicious, but not for every day.
  • Add sugar at will and even skip it completely, if you want our drink to have a stronger and more intense coffee flavor.
  • You can freeze your glasses in the refrigerator in advance, for a cooler result.
  • Due to the presence of liqueur, it is better to enjoy it in the afternoon than in the morning.
