In Italy, coffee is often a family business! Meet the Cagliari family, which keeps the authentic espresso tradition from 1909!

Italy is undoubtedly one of the world's Metropolises of Coffee - and of course, the birthplace of espresso. The Italians have developed a distinct coffee culture, ranging from choosing the right coffee beans to roasting and blending them. It is not uncommon for family-owned businesses in Italy to continue in the espresso world for generations. One of these families is the Cagliari family!

The Caffé Cagliari origins: The Migration to Brazil and return to Modena

The history of Cagliari coffee begins in 1895 when the founder of the company, Ambrosio Cagliari, takes the road of immigration from Italy to Brazil in search of better luck. The Cagliari works as a laborer in coffee plantations in the country of Latin America, but his passion, the diligence and the coffee that magic carrries makes Cagliari a master in roasting and the blending in just a few years. Ambrosio decides to change his life again and returns to his hometown, Modena.

Having met well the secrets of coffee, the Ambrosio Cagliari opens his first roastery in the center of Modena in 1909. The quality of the blends is such that only two years later won the gold quality medal at the International Fair of Genoa. It is Cagliari's first important step towards recognition, but also a strong asset for the company, which aims to never reduce the quality of its blends. Caffé Cagliari grows rapidly, moves to bigger facilities and her espresso bar becomes a hangout for intellectuals and writers of the Italian Interwar.

Caffe Cagliari becomes synonymous with quality: three generations of authentic Italian espresso

In the post-war years, the company passes  to the sons of Ambrosio Cagliari who continue their family tradition, having been born and raised surrounded by coffee and knowing as much as possible about it. The name Cagliari is now synonymous with quality espresso, the company grows and moves constantly into larger facilities, following up technological advances, marrying them with the Italian tradition of roasting and blending coffee. Caffé Cagliari, beyond its popularity in Italy, has a presence in more than 40 countries and hundreds of millions of delicious espresso all over the world contain Ambrosio Cagliari's vision of quality Italian espresso.
