Cereal bars are a snack that has become increasingly popular in recent years, and rightly so: they are practical, tasty, ideal for modern lifestyles and full of energy. They often give us the opportunity to use foods that are considered superfoods, such as nuts and cereals. In recent years, the public's preference has turned to handmade bars, which on the one hand are healthier than industrial ones, as we have in our hands the control of the materials, and on the other hand they can be perfectly adapted to our tastes and our sense of taste.

If you love coffee, the bars we present will drive you crazy! On a base that combines classic ingredients for homemade bars, such as cereals, honey and peanut butter, instant coffee adds flavor, but also the necessary caffeine kick that we need every morning. They are easy to prepare, do not even need baking and are the ideal snack for the office, for the street or even for a picnic, a breakfast or a brunch.

What do we need for Coffee Bars?

1 cup oatmeal
2 cups cereal
Or a cup of cocoa powder
1 tablespoon instant coffee
A pinch of salt
Or a cup of peanut butter
1/3 cup honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ - Or a cup of chocolate flakes


How do we prepare the Coffee Bars?

In a bowl, mix the oats, cereal, cocoa, coffee and salt.
In another bowl, mix the peanut butter, honey and vanilla.
Add the "dry" mixture to the "wet" mixture and mix until homogeneous. If necessary, add the dry ingredients in portions.
In a pan in which we have spread oil glue, we empty the mixture, we flatten it with our fingers and we take care to catch, evenly, the whole surface of the oil glue. If we use pieces of chocolate, sprinkle them on top
Leave it in the fridge for a few hours, until it tightens.
With a wet and sharp knife, cut bars of the same size.
Our bars are kept in the refrigerator, in a closed taper, for up to two weeks.


Tips for Delicious Coffee Bars?

Coffee bars may be healthier than their commercial counterparts, but they are still high in calories, mainly due to peanut butter and honey. They are ideal for snacks, but we should not overdo it!
We can increase or decrease the amount of coffee at will.
We use whatever cereals we want - rice-based cereals will give a nice, crunchy texture.
We can use crunchy or soft peanut butter, depending on our tastes. Sure, we look to be unsalted, and without added sugar.
If the honey and peanut butter are still thick enough to mix, heat them for a while in a saucepan over medium heat or for a few seconds in the microwave.
They are not suitable for children because of the coffee, but if we skip it, we make a very good snack for school, which will fill them with energy.
We can completely skip the chocolate flakes, for a lighter result, with fewer calories.
