Exotic Coffee Curry Chicken

21/08/2020
by coffees.gr

Coffee has made its way to India's national food.

The term "Curry" is used to describe a wide range of dishes of Indian cuisine, which have in common the use of many spices. Indian currys consist of a main ingredient (meat, chicken, seafood), vegetables and a variety of spices such as ginger, turmeric, coriander, chili peppers, cinnamon, mixes such as garam masala etc. Usually, curries have plenty of sauce and despite the popular perception, they are not always hot, as there are dishes that are just spicy or even sweet, while they are almost always served with rice.

Throughout the British colonial period, curries spread to England and from there to the rest of Europe, while the settlement of immigrants from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh in European Countries made them even more popular. Now, by the name curry we mean a multitude of other dishes of Southeast Asia, which are also characterized by many spices and thick, creamy sauces.

Some of the most popular curry dishes are Korma, Tikka Masala, Jalfrezi, Madras and spicy Vindaloo! One of the main features of Curry is their flexibility, since in a recipe many diverse ingredients can be incorporated. That's probably how the Asian restaurant that made Coffee Curry with chicken came to mind - and we couldn't help but try it.

This is an intriguing, adventurous taste - lovers of exotic food will enjoy it. Although it sounds unconnected at first glance, the aromas and flavors are uniquely mixed and the end result is truly special. Try it!

Tips for delicious Coffee Chicken Curry

Garam Masala is a spice mix characteristic of Indian cuisine, which is easily found in spice shops. If you cannot find it, use ready-made curry powder, but the taste effect will not be so sparkling.
If you  can stand the heat, add some chili peppers.
Basmati rice must be grainy and fluffy. Wash it thoroughly before boiling it and carefully measure the water used (twice as much as the rice.
Use filter coffee, ideally a blend that contains beans that come from India.
You can add other vegetables (ideally potatoes and peppers)
If you skip the coffee and the peanut butter and add ginger to your spices, you have a very nice basic recipe for a simple curry!

If you have an appetite for an exotic dish, try a chicken curry - and better yet, combine it with your favorite coffee flavor. Good appetite!
