This summer, Negroni is served differently!
Negroni is a popular Italian cocktail, which combines gin, semi-sweet vermouth and Campari, which is usually served as an aperitif. He was born in Florence at the beginning of the twentieth century as a transformation of the Americano cocktail, ordered by Camillo Negroni. Over time, Negroni has become one of the most popular Italian aperitivo and is served all over the world - and of course, it has experienced many variations, changing some of its ingredients, culminating in new flavors.
From 2013, one week of the summer is called "Negroni Week" at the initiative of Campari and the Imbibe magazine : during this week, any bar that wants to participate, donates part of Negroni's revenue to serve a charitable purpose of its choice. Participants are growing year by year, while the week, beyond charity, is an opportunity for everyday bartenders to create new, imaginative cocktails with original materials.
This year, Negroni Week was set in the last week of June. Although it has passed, it is never too late to discover original Negroni-based variants based om Coffee! We present three recipes that do not require craftsmanship, equipment and a cellar bartender, characterized by intense coffee aroma and need only fun, coffee and some favorite drinks!
Three coffee - based Negronis, for those who love apperitivos!
The Simpe Coffee Negroni: Playing with the Negroni's characteristic ingredients and omitting Gin for coffee, the simplest Coffee Negroni preparation uses Cold Brew coffee, which suits greatly with alcohol and gives a cool, palatable effect.
30 ml sweet vermouth
30 ml Campari
40 ml Cold Brew
Preparation: Add all ingredients to a Negroni glass, stir and add a little ice. Garnish with an orange peel.
Donald Sutherland’s Doom : When Negroni masquerades in cappuccino, the "Donald Sutherland Destruction", which combines disparate but matching tastes, shows up reminding of the favorite coffee.
15 ml Gin
15 ml Campari
25 ml Vermouth
7.5 ml simple sugar sirup
90 ml whole fat milk
1 single espresso
Preparation: Mix all ingredients except espresso. With the coffee machine nozzle, we give a sparkling texture to the mixture. In a cappuccino cup add the espresso and then the special froth and serve.
Americano + Americano: Negroni is essentially a transformation of a cocktail called Americano, where mineral water was used instead of gin. In this Friday, Americano marries Americano coffee, which is essentially an espresso diluted with water.
45 ml Campari
45 ml sweet vermouth
90 ml sparkling water
1 single espresso
Preparation: Mix the first three ingredients, seal with a membrane and cool them in the refrigerator for a while. In a tall glass, place ice, fill with the cold mixture, top with espresso and garnish with an orange peel.
Coffee can ... be founf everywhere! The next time you have the appetite for a refreshing aperitif, choose a recipe that combines the carelessness and elegance of the Italian summer with the intensity and rich taste of coffee. Enjoy!
