Simple, easy and traditional Coffee Crema

A simple but delicious dessert with coffee aroma.

There are complex and adventurous sweets, with contrasts in textures, flavors and aromas, with plenty of ingredients, with specialized techniques and impressive servings that steal the impressions. And there are the simple, humble sweets, which require only minimal ingredients. It is not a few times that these comfort desserts, which may remind us of our mothers or grandmothers, are not just solutions of necessity, but favorite flavors to which we return again and again.

Crema, the simple dessert of milk, cornflour, sugar and eggs, is old-fashioned and timeless at the same time. From the very old pastry shops, to the grandmother's fridge and the closing of our moms' dinners, it is a dessert that is easily made, with ingredients that are present in every home. Our version, of course, is flavored with intense instant coffee, which gives it a unique, robust taste.

 

What do you need for an easy Coffee Crema?

- Half a cup of sugar
- 3 tablespoons corn flour
- 2 tablespoons instant coffee
- A pinch of salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 a  cup of whole cream
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon of honey


How is the coffee crema prepared?

 - In a bowl, whisk together the milk, cream, and yolks
- Put the mixture in a pan and add the sugar, cornflour, coffee and salt
- Boil over medium heat, stirring constantly, until bubbles form, for about 10 minutes.
- Lower the heat even more, and continue for another 1-2 minutes
- Put the mixture in a bowl, and while it is still hot, add the butter and honey, and mix.
- Distribute in individual bowls or molds and close tightly with plastic wrap
- Leave in the fridge for at least 3-4 hours before serving.


Tips for easy and delicious coffee cream

 - Milk, cream, butter and egg yolks are good yes they are at room temperature
- Be careful when mixing: crema should be ready without burning or clumping!
- Instead of instant coffee, you can add a double espresso. The taste will be less intense, but your dessert more aromatic
- A special idea for serving: by putting a little less coffee in your cream and making it lighter, you can make a simple instant coffee cream, inspired by Dalgona coffee, to serve our dessert. - Simply beat with a mixer two spoons of instant coffee, two spoons of sugar and two spoons of water. Once firm, serve the cream with the Dalgona mousse we have made.
- The hermetic closure with a membrane helps to prevent the formation of bubbles on the surface and our cream to have a smooth and smooth surface.
- Keep in the refrigerator for a few (3-4) days.
- Not suitable for children, as it contains coffee
- You can serve with pieces of chocolate, nuts or with 1-2 coffee beans.
