If you want an espresso with aroma, taste and history, you know what your next favorite blend will be!
Brazil definitely brings three things to mind: the crazy carnival, football and of course, coffee! Being the largest producer of coffee in the entire world, Brazil is the eternal cradle of coffee and the country that has contributed the most to its development. The coffee's marketing is interwoven with images of exotic beauties from Brazil, ready to offer their unique coffee to anyone interested.
From this era comes an espresso brand from Northern Italy, which, although it does not exclusively use Brazilian coffee, nevertheless carries within itself (and in its blends) the entire tradition of those years. His name is – what else? - it's La Brasiliana!
Brief History of La Brasiliana
The story of La Brasiliana begins in 1948, in a small shop in the heart of Ferrara, Emilia Romagna, Italy, when Carlo Govoni acquires his first shop and with it, the first coffee roasting machine. Experimenting with roasting and blending, having a deep experience of Italian Espresso and building a relationship of trust with producers in Latin America, Africa and India, Govoni managed to make his small roastery a recognizable and reckonable brand in the demanding and competitive world of Italian Espresso.
Today, the company still belongs to the same family, as the third generation Govoni is now at the helm. The facilities and processes have been modernized (the company is planning a major re-branding and a radical renewal of its image that will take place within the year) but the passion and love for Italian espresso remain unchanged since the opening of the first store in the center of Ferrara.
Of course, La Brasiliana's activities are not limited only to the availability of fine espresso blends. The company has developed the "Coffee Business School", an organization that, through seminars, trainings and lectures, educates professionals in the field of coffee and catering, sharing 70 years of know-how from the field of coffee, and recently opened for the first time also has its own espresso bars, serving exclusively the entire range of its products.
What makes La Brasiliana stand out?
The combination of experience and vision is certainly one of the characteristics that make La Brasiliana a special espresso brand. With 75 years of experience in the field of coffee and remaining a family business, it is a brand that has fermented with the history and evolution of Italian espresso, while looking to the future and adapting this precious heritage to the modern era.
But what makes the "Brazilian" blends stand out is first of all their taste and aroma, which are due to specific factors: the careful selection of excellent raw material, through the building of solid relationships with producers all over the world, the separate roasting of each variety of coffee, so that its unique characteristics are highlighted to the maximum extent and the instinct that leads to the ideal mixing of the varieties, creating coffee blends for every taste.
Meet the blends of La Brasiliana!
Supermoka: One of the company's most popular blends, whose secret recipe was arrived at after many tests in 2009. The taste is dominated by notes of chocolate and fruit, while the body is rich and delightful.
Extra: A blend that balances between the aroma and taste of Brazilian Arabica and the intensity and strong body offered by Robusta from Vietnam. Chocolate, caramel and hazelnuts define its flavor profile, while the body is robust and the cream dark and rich.
Marfisa: A blend consists of the best Arabica beans, moderately roasted, to bring out all their organoleptic characteristics. The character is fruity, with pleasant floral aromas and spicy notes.
Oro Blu: An espresso blend that balances between the aroma and flavor of Brazilian Arabica and the intensity and strong body offered by Robusta from Vietnam. It is characterized by notes of chocolate and caramel, with playful floral touches, while its natural sweetness is countered by a pleasantly bitter aftertaste.
Custom 85/15: An espresso blend created especially for the 75th anniversary of the founding of La Brasiliana! It consists of three distinct Arabica varieties from Brazil (Santos), El Salvador and Nicaragua, complemented by Vietnamese Robusta. The result is a coffee with a complex aromatic profile, showing notes of caramel, chocolate and nuts, but also a full, rich fruity aftertaste, with hints of apricot, cherry and plum.
