Maple Latte: a coffee that tastes like american breakfast

03/09/2021
by coffees.gr

One of the most beloved breakfast flavors in coffee: we know Maple Latte!

Breakfast and brunch have been well established in Greece in recent years. Imaginary dishes with eggs, pancakes, avocado preparations and of course, lots of coffee are the protagonists of a Sunday, usually, table. Maple Syrup is definitely among the materials used!

Maple Syrup is an extremely popular sweetener coming from Canada and is not lacking in any breakfast or brunch table, accompanied by pancakes well as cereal with milk. It is produced from the maple tree trunk, an endemic tree in North America. The properties of maple syrup have been discovered by indigenous North Americans for centuries, and gradually the secret has been passed on to European settlers to conquer the European public in recent years.

In Europe - and in Greece - we know it as a syrup that accompanies the wonderful dishes we find at breakfast tables, but maple syrup is used as a sweetener, replacing sugar in many preparations, such as cakes or sweets. Its taste is very special, with a caramel feel and bittersweet aromas that excite anyone who tastes it for the first time.

Combining maple syrup with coffee, we get a delicious Maple Latte, which combines the comfort of milk texture, the intensity of coffee and the bittersweet taste of maple: an "American coffee" perfect for autumn to begin!

What do you need for a Maple Latte?

  • 1 ½ cup of milk
  • A double espresso
  • Three tablespoons Maple Syrup
  • A pinch of cinammon

How is  Maple Latte prepared?

  • Prepare the espresso
  • Heat the milk and beat it to create foam
  • In a mug pour the double espresso
  • Fill with the hot milk foam
  • Add maple syrup, mix well and serve with a little cinnamon

Tips for a delicious Maple Latte:

  • You can enjoy it at any time, however it is best for breakfast or brunch, accompanied by some delicacies.
  • It goes without saying that you don't add sugar: maple syrup is particularly sweet.
  • You can use whatever coffee blend  we want, depending on our tastes. A Robusta-rich blend will allow your drink to have a strong coffee flavor, while an aromatic Arabica will result in a lighter maple latte
  • For a cold version, dissolve the syrup in the hot espresso, beat it with ice cubes, and top with cold foam - however the hot preparation is more suited to the flavors of Maple Syrup.
  • You can match Maple Latte with coffee biscuits or espresso cake very nicely.
  • You can prepare the foam milk with a related device (foam maker), the espresso machine nozzle or in a variety of other ways if we do not have specialized equipment.
  • The  kids will envy the maple latte, so it's a good idea to add some maple syrup to their milk or hot chocolate.

The cool autumn days are a must for brunch. Next Sunday, wake up late, prepare treats, call - why not? - your friends and accompany your dishes with a delicious Maple Latte!
