Μια ένοχη απόλαυση από την άλλη πλευρά του Ατλαντικού

Peanut butter, although not very popular in Greece, is one of the key ingredients of any successful breakfast in the United States, but also one of the products that literally the majority of Americans adore. On toasts, sandwiches, donuts and muffins, smoothies and even savory pastries, this delicious peanut spread is driving millions of people around the world crazy.

In Greece we tend to consider it an unhealthy food - but this is a misunderstanding. If we choose a good peanut butter, without additives, sugar and salt, the truth is that we are dealing with an extremely nutritious and healthy product. The question of calories, of course, remains, as peanut butter is calorific and should always be consumed in moderation and prudence.

As the rest of the planet becomes as passionate as peanut butter, due to the growing demand for vegetarian products, the delicious spread is slowly piercing various recipes - so it made sense for coffee with peanut butter to appear. Peanut Butter Coffee has a rich, thick texture, can fill us with energy, and is perfectly suitable for breakfast, as long as it does not become a daily habit.

What do you need for Butter Coffee;

 - 2 tablespoons unsalted peanut butter
 - 1 tablespoon merenda
 - 6 tablespoons sour cream (full)
 - 300 ml filter coffee

How is Peanut Butter Coffee prepared?

  • In a frying pan, over low heat, mix the peanut butter, merenda and half the cream
  • When it starts to homogenize, add the other half of the cream
  • Continue stirring, remove from the heat and allow to cool
  • Optionally add spoons of the mixture to our hot coffee and serve

Tips for Peanut Butter Coffees

  • Peanut butter, heavy cream, merenda: pay attention to calories, as this coffee should not become a daily habit, but remain a guilty pleasure.
  • We choose unsalted and smooth peanut butter, which will give us a nice soft cream
  • We choose a strong filter coffee, which will pleasantly oppose the chocolate, the cream and the taste of the peanut butter.
  • For an iced version, use Cold Brew instead of filter coffee, and beat it in the blender with cold peanut butter cream, as if making a smoothie
  • The peanut butter cream is kept in the refrigerator for a few days. Before mixing it with hot coffee, it is a good idea to heat it in a kettle.
  • Of course, we do not add extra sugar, our coffee is already too sweet.

One of the most exciting things about coffee is the ease with which it blends in with different ingredients, creating unique, new recipes - such as Peanut Butter Coffee.
