Πώς μπορεί ο καφές μας να γίνει συμμαχός μας τις μέρες της καραντίνας;

With more than a billion people worldwide in compulsory restraint, at least until the spread of the new coronavirus is controlled, our daily lives have been disrupted, and in a very violent way. In the days of quarantine, besides the fact that we have to protect ourselves and our fellow citizens, it is of the utmost importance to organize our daily lives in such a way as to be as pleasant as possible. Mental balance is of the utmost importance in getting out of this ordeal and getting the thread right where we left it.

Coffee is part of our daily routine, and for many people it is identified with particularly enjoyable times of the day, such as waking up in the morning, relaxing in the afternoon, and of course going out with friends. And if we are forced to put ice into the sociality of coffee, at least for a while, there is no reason to give up coffee. We've collected some coffee tips to make our quarantine a little more enjoyable and tolerable, until the bar passes and our cafes fill up again!

Shop your coffee online: By contributing to the overall effort to limit the transmission of Covid-19, e-commerce is stepping up and reaching out to consumers who are still skeptical of it. For the most effective implementation of the social distancing measure, it is preferable to buy your favorite coffee online in order to limit your contacts as much as possible. In this way, you can reduce overcrowding, minimize time spent in physical stores, without depriving your favorite habit. All distribution companies also adhere to strict safeguards, both for their customers and their employees, and our coffee arrives home quickly and safely.

Organize your routine: For many, a 24-hour home stay seems like an incredible amount of suffering, and it is a fact that it can burden our mental balance in unprecedented ways. Quarantine needs routine organization and small "breaths", that is, small things that make our day beautiful and give us the courage to go further. If you are coffee lovers, you can organize your day around our coffees, starting with the first morning coffee, passing the afternoon and afternoon coffee and giving it a taste and aroma.

Don't overdo it: Coffee is delicious and at the same time healthy, but it should be consumed with moderation. Over-consumption of coffee, especially in confinement and isolation conditions, can have unpleasant effects, such as stomach upset or irritability. It is good to know our limits and not to become a quarantine cause of abuses, which will further burden us psychologically. If we look to get away with it, it is also good to try caffeine-free coffee to reduce our total daily caffeine intake.

Beware of calories: In quarantine everyone tends to eat more - boredom and anxiety often lead to over-eating. Apart from the fact that healthy food helps to shield our immune system, it's good to not be overweight after the end of quarantine. Do not overload your coffees with sugar, whipped cream, , syrups, ice cream scoops etc. We keep these special treats for a couple of times a week, not on a daily basis.

It's time to get creative: Many of us have plenty of free time and limited options to manage. Cooking is an extremely creative occupation for the quarantine days, and of course it touches the coffee sector as well. Instead of staying true to the same coffee two or three times a day, it's time to try all those recipes you didn't try because you "didn't have the time". At Coffees.gr we have gathered, more or less, more than 80 different coffee recipes for all tastes: from desserts and coffees to traditional Italian cuisine and ethnic coffees from every corner of the globe. Almost all recipes are simple, require no weird materials, specialized equipment and barista experience - with one recipe every day, we won't even know when that nightmare will be over.

Days are difficult, but they are measured, they will pass and life will continue from where we left off. Until then, we stay home, protect ourselves and those around us and find allies in the little things we love. And coffee is definitely one of them.
