Arabian coffee with water, and our kitchen is transferred to the alleys of Damascus

05/03/2020
by coffees.gr

A variation of the beloved Greek coffee, with drunken Oriental flavors.

Rose water is a scent that we all definitely love, reminiscent of grandmother's old-fashioned colognes or, even better, delicious traditional sweets such as almond paste. The distillate of spring roses has a cool, refreshing scent and a natural sweetness that can take any recipe to which it is added.

In the Arab countries, where it is even more widespread, rosewater gives its aromas to sweets, halvahs, pilafs, tea and of course, Arabian coffee. It is such an Arab's love for its intoxicating aroma that "white coffee" is served in some countries, such as Lebanon, which is of course not coffee, but rosewater with honey, sugar, and oriental spices.

We know that Arabic coffee, which is not particularly distant from our favorite Greek coffee, is often flavored with various spices, such as cardamom or clove. For those who love the oriental aroma of Greek coffee, the recipe for Arabian coffee with rosewater and spices will take them to the roots of coffee, when the caravans carry their precious coffee beans and ships from the Red Sea ports to the sacks. in the whole world. Try it and your home will be transformed into a shady coffee shop in the alleys of Damascus, only from the drunken smells that fill the kitchen.

  • For added convenience, you can add spices right from the start, prepare your coffee just as you would prepare a Greek coffee and omit the strain by simply adding the rose water at the end.
  • Serving with a traditional sweet of a piece of halva is a must - enhancing the enjoyment and sense of tradition.
  • Youcan use whatever Greek Coffee blend youwant.
  • However, if you have our own grinding mill for Greek / Arabic coffee, you can experiment by grinding whatever coffee you want. In this case, you can choose 100% Arabica coffee, ideally with a strong presence of varieties from Ethiopia.

Greek coffee, though not as common as it used to be, has now passed into our delicious DNA - that's why its varieties, fragrances , are always welcome.
