Vampire Coffee, ideal for Halloween!

A blood-stained coffee is enough to say "Trick or Treat"!

Halloween, the feast of All Saints, was based on All Hallow’s Eve, a traditional Irish and Scottish holiday with pagan roots, dedicated to the memory of the dead. From Scottish and Irish immigrants the holiday has moved to the New World, and is one of the most popular holidays in the United States, as it is celebrated on October 31, essentially marking the beginning of the winter holiday season, which of course continues with Thanksgiving. with christmas.

The Americans took the iconography of the holiday and took it a step further, creating a celebration full of skeletons, ghosts, witches and of course, scary carved pumpkins. Halloween balances between scary and funny, drives children crazy and quickly managed to become beloved all over the world - and in recent years in Greece as well. And, as foreign as it is to our traditions, it is a good opportunity for a relaxed as well as scary spree.

Halloween of course has a huge commercial dimension, and every October the American (and not only) market is flooded with items related to Halloween, such as decorations and disguises, while there are also recipes with a spooky character. For this year, we put aside the classic Pumpkin Spice Latte and make a ... blood-stained coffee with alcohol - everything you need for a Halloween night with friends, pumpkins and horror movies!

What do we need for a Vampire Coffee?

1/4  cup of glucose syrup
1-2 teaspoons red pastry color
120 ml Amaretto Liqueur
120 ml Tequila
1 cup sour cream
6 espresso

How is  Vampire Coffee prepared?

  • Mix the syrup with the pastry color to get a red, thick syrup that resembles blood
  • Smear the bottom and the outer walls of shotgun glasses, so that they look "damn"
  • In a blender, beat the drinks, espresso and sour cream
  • Serve in six shotgun glasses and fill with "blood".

Tips for Spooky Vampire Coffees!

  • We do not add sugar, as our "blood" is quite sweet.
  • We consume responsibly, as our drink includes two strong alcoholic beverages.
  • We can hang plastic, Dracula carnival teeth in our glass, for more fun.

If you have decided to celebrate Halloween this year, you do not need much: a scary mask and a bloody coffee is enough to say "Trick or Treat"!
