Espresso on-the-go: is there any way to reduce its cost?

Without a doubt, one of the most common everyday habits is espresso in the car, going to work ... but is there a way to enjoy it while reducing its cost?

Whether in the winter or in the summer, both on a daily journey to work and driving for leisure (such as going on a trip), coffee is often the best companion for a driver. Being relaxing and at the same time stimulating, coffee increases concentration and alertness, and can be consumed relatively easily on the move. One factor that few have taken into account, however, is how much our daily wallet, on the go, overcharges our wallet.

How does our daily espresso cost?

Have you ever wondered how much your daily coffee costs as you go to work or return home at your house with your car? Relative statistics indicate that average daily coffee consumption is two coffees per driver, which of course can increase for longer journeys. Considering that a takeaway espresso costs an average of 1.80 euros and simply employing mathematics, the annual cost for our daily coffee to and from work can exceed € 850!

At the (really exorbitant) cost of the daily coffee takeaway, our environmental footprint, which increases sharply, by adding two disposable plastic or paper cups on a daily basis, is also added, as well as the delays on the routes created due to waiting in coffee shops, especially during rush hours.

However, coffee and driving go for most drivers, while the drinks that Greek drivers prefer to buy outside are those that can not primarily be easily prepared on the go, such as espresso. Due to the extraordinary nature of its extraction, which requires a special machine and, of course, electricity, making the right espresso in the car seems almost impossible - or not?

Is there a way to enjoy authentic espresso on the go, at less cost?

SEAT has recently announced the availability of a portable espresso machine in all its models, which, taking power from the car's battery, is able to prepare a cup of delicious esprsso in minutes, eliminating our dependence on take-away coffee shops, and drastically reducing the cost of our beloved habit, as well as the need for supplies such as paper or plastic glasses, including its own reusable plastic glasses.

If you do not plan to buy a new SEAT directly or if you do not plan to pay nearly £ 200 that the relative portable espresso machine costs, there is a solution that is extremely cost-effective: the manual espresso machine without batteries!

How does the manual espresso machine work?

The manual espresso machine costs just 39,99 euros and does not require batteries, charging or electricity. It only needs hot water and works by multiplying the pressure it exerts through a manual lever, which creates the necessary conditions for extracting a real espresso in a few seconds. As it works with ground coffee, it allows us to use whatever blend we prefer, without having to choose between (extremely limited, most of the time) choices taken by take away cafes.

It is worth mentioning that the cost of coffee is significantly smaller than the purchase of ready-made beverages: buying a quality blend of our choice and a hand-made espresso machine without batteries, the annual cost for our coffee will not exceed 200 euros, taking into account the cost of the machine, which, as we perceive, will be extinguished extremely quickly. As the manual machine has a built-in cup, no consumables are required, except from a thermos, which will allow us to always have the hot water needed to prepare our favorite espresso.

Equally important is the reduction in time: instead of waiting for the usual queues observed in the morning or afternoon at coffee shops, it takes just a few seconds, at the beginning of our journey, to enjoy a real espresso just as we want it . Due to the manual nature of the engine, it is of course not a good idea to handle it while driving, but the break required as soon as we reach the hand-held espresso machine until the first squeeze is not over a minute!

Espresso in the car has never been simpler - and more economical - with a manual espresso machine and our favorite blend, we can enjoy every day, on our way to work, the coffee we love - the coffee we deserve!
